There is really nothing more I could say about another love songs compilation - it's all been said before. But I will say this: to have all these songs in one place is something that is long overdue.
For unlike most compilations this one doesn’t have a defined area that the songs are plucked from. In keeping with the title, Beautiful As Always aims to captures pop music at its beautiful moments. Golden oldies like Cliff Richard’s classic It’s All In The Game and Andy Williams with his Love’s Theme - litter this CD along with the classic 80’s tracks like Shakin’ Steven’s Because I Love You and Culture Club’s Love Is Love. Of course there are a few songs on this release that are pretty common when picking out compilations or ‘best of’ releases – Nat King Cole’s Unforgettable and Sonny & Cher with their I Got You Babe - but they are always great picks that I rarely complain about them.
Among the tender ballads included are the touching Paul McCartney and his band Wings doing My Love - and the beautiful, Every Woman In The World, by Air Supply. Both songs, which have been all but forgotten, are unearthed in this gem of a love songs collection. Throw in some George Michael, Barry White and Richard Marx – and you could play this one for hours.
This is CD is definitely one for lovers – and the music will surely help establish an intimate atmosphere with that special someone. Just the perfect thing to gift the one you love on this Valentine’s Day. The upshot - a double CD with almost forty great love songs for the price of a single CD - it doesn’t get any better than this. No matter what kind of day you’re having, you can always depend on the music on this one to smooth out the wrinkles in it.
